One of our favorite events, the Throw Swap is THIS FRIDAY. The Charitable Sisters of the Wook have organized a food drive benefiting Second Harvest and have already collected 210 pounds of food! Due to its incredible success last year, the Charitable Sisters of the Wook will be holding another raffle and food drive at this year’s Throw Swap. Just like last year, raffle tickets will be sold for $2 or a ticket will be given in exchange for donating a non-perishable food item to our drive for Second Harvest Food Bank. The Sisters have requested:
****DONATIONS FOR THE RAFFLE!****
Last year, we raffled off a few Wookiee Throw Packages stocked full of donated throws, bandoliers and bando-blocks. We would like to make these packages fun and representative of the entire Krewe so please consider donating some of your awesome throws! If you’re in a subkrewe, please reach out to your group to solicit throw donations! We also need donations of non-throw prizes for our raffle. If you have friends in high places, or an “in” to a restaurant gift certificate or a shiny new bike, … or even a nifty coloring book, please get in touch with the Sisters!
****BAKED GOODS FOR THE BAKE SALE!****
Let me know if you can bring something. You can bake or buy it, we aren’t picky!
****VOLUNTEERS!***
It’s actually really, really fun so it doesn’t even seem like work!! If you’re able to volunteer any time between 6 pm (set up ) and 11 pm (break down), please let the sisters know!
NOTE: The food drive benefits Second Harvest Food bank. All cash proceeds will benefit the new NOLArts subkrewe. NOLAarts, along with Preservation Hall and iDIYA, are working to create a safe place for children on the Autism Spectrum. They will be participating in the parade along with their parents, guardians and caretakers while marching along with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
