The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus is excited to announce an additional update to the lineup of royalty for our fourteenth annual parade, Chewbacchus XIV: The Rise of the Superb Owl. Joining the cosmic festivities on Saturday, February 1, 2025, will be none other than the Emmy-nominated actor Mark Proksch—widely beloved for his role as Colin Robinson, the notorious energy vampire, in FX’s hit series What We Do in the Shadows.
An Iconic Addition to the Cosmic Pantheon
Mark Proksch will take on the title of The Grand Siphon and Master of the Mundane, Intergalactic Yo-Yo Champion, and Parade Comptroller, an honor that reflects both his comedic prowess and his unique contributions to pop culture. Proksch’s portrayal of Colin Robinson has captured hearts and laughs alike, endearing him to fans of the supernatural comedy for his humorously mundane energy-draining powers. As we embrace the energy (and humor) of What We Do in the Shadows, Mark’s participation aligns with our theme’s playful nod to the Emmy-nominated show and its brilliant “Superb Owl” pun.
A Nod to the Superb Owl
This year’s theme, “Chewbacchus XIV: The Rise of the Superb Owl,” celebrates both the Superb Owl’s cosmic wisdom and the humorous misinterpretation featured in What We Do in the Shadows, where vampires mistake a Super Bowl party for a grand celebration of a mythical “Superb Owl.” With the Super Bowl set to take place in New Orleans, Chewbacchus has adapted its parade weekend to keep the cosmic revelry rolling, honoring both the “Superb Owl” and our diverse fandom in quintessential Chewbacchus style.
Celebrating Our Conjurer of Cosmic Creativity, Meghan Davis
Joining Mark in the royal spotlight is Meghan Davis, the 2025 Conjurer of Cosmic Creativity, Summoner of the Superb Owl, and Queen of Darkness. Meghan, a longtime member of Chewbacchus and founder of the What We Do in the Shadows inspired sub-krewe, the Vampiric Council of New Orleans, will reign as Queen of Darkness over this year’s intergalactic revelries. Meghan’s contributions to the Chewbacchus krewe, including her artistry, vision, and passion for fandom, embody the very spirit of Chewbacchus.
Route & Festivities
The parade will roll from Franklin Avenue and St. Claude Avenue, proceed along Elysian Fields, and journey up Decatur Street, ending at Decatur and Conti Street. As always, expect to see fan-favorite subkrewes like the Space Vikings, Han & the Solo Cups, and the Vampiric Council, alongside newcomers bringing fresh creativity to the cosmic celebration.
And don’t miss the Chewbacchanal Afterparty at The Fillmore New Orleans, where the revelry continues with live music, DJs, and intergalactic festivities of epic proportions. Limited public tickets and VIP options will be available.
