IGNITION is a collaborative Art and Camping experiment that will take place at a hidden urban oasis just minutes from downtown New Orleans October 15-18. This three-day experience features a lineup of amazing musicians and DJs, interactive art installations, sound stages, theme camps and and more!
Bring your cooler, your tent and your creativity! IGNITION is a totally immersive art experience that is curated by its participants. Everyone who attends the event has the same opportunity to bring along whatever their heart desires for the same universal ticket price. YOU are encouraged to bring interactive art, music and amazing experiences to share with your fellow campers.
This inaugural event is a benefit for the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus Inc. 501(c)3, NOLA’s beloved Science Fiction and Fantasy themed carnival organization. The Krewe of Chewbacchus declared itself a “Satirical Space Cult” as part of its 2015 parade theme. Like all things associated with Chewbacchus, the joke quickly transcended itself and became reality. The Krewe transformed itself into a non-profit charitable organization and was officially recognized as a religion. Over the last year Chewbacchus began a dedicated effort to make a viable positive impact in the community directly under the banner of the Sacred Drunken Wookiee and formed beneficial partnerships with several other local non-profits including Second Harvest and KIDsmART.
Artist Brennan Steele and the NOLA Burners regional Fire Art Safety Team are creating the centerpiece of IGNITION, an incredible giant Wicker Wookiee effigy of “Chewbacchus the Sacred Drunken Wookiee” himself.
