Holy Beings

The Cult of the Sacred Drunken Wookiee maintains a small, deliberate roster of Holy Beings — figures whose example, kindness, or sheer cosmic significance has elevated them, in the Krewe’s estimation, beyond the normal reach of mortal honours. Canonisation is rare, ceremonial, and enacted by the Overlords on a date the Cult considers appropriate. Two beings are currently so recognised; future entries will appear below as the Cult sees fit.

To nominate a character, person, or being for canonisation, submit the nomination here. The Overlords review submissions on no particular schedule.

Emperor for Eternity Peter Mayhew

Canonised 1 November 2019.

On 1 November 2019, the Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus canonised the gentle giant who taught the Krewe to always let the Wookiee win. Art, poetry, and other offerings were accepted at the newly-unveiled Temple of the Sacred Drunken Wookiee. With a station dedicated to the man whose kindness and quiet warmth inspired the Krewe in the first place, cult adherents gathered to commemorate Chewbacchus’s first and most honourable Holy Being. Peter Mayhew was elevated from Emperor for Life to Emperor for Eternity. All hail.

Princess Senator General Carrie Fisher

Canonised 1 November 2020.

Constrained by COVID-19 restrictions on Planet Earth in 2020, the Overlords convened on 1 November at a secret, suitably distanced location to perform the sacred ritual deifying Carrie Fisher into the Cult of the Sacred Drunken Wookiee. As a young princess in Star Wars, she charmed her way into the Krewe’s hearts and soon revealed the strength and wit that would carry her through Senator and General. It was in that spirit — and in recognition of her singular ability to suffer no fools and find humour when it was most needed — that the Cult elevated her among its Holy Beings. All hail.
