Chewbacchus has, by long-standing custom, paraded to live music. The lineup over the years has featured brass bands, drumlines, marching ensembles, and the occasional ambulatory string section — the Sacred Drunken Wookiee has impeccable musical taste, and each year’s slate is curated accordingly.
Bands provide a soundtrack the Krewe could not, on its own resources, hope to produce, and — not coincidentally — help keep several thousand revellers moving in roughly the same direction at roughly the same pace.
Bands interested in joining the parade lineup register through Krewebacchus. The “We are a band” option during captain sign-up flags the application for the Overlords’ band-curation process. Bands are exempt from dues; members affiliated through a band subkrewe also fall under the dues exemption (the Krewebacchus FAQ documents the full picture).
Space in the lineup is limited and the approval process is, by Krewe standards, reasonably selective. Early applications are gently preferred.
