Across galaxies known and unknown, the signal has been received: the Golden Wookiee rises not merely as symbol, but as force and an embodiment of loyalty, service, and the chaotic brilliance that fuels the Krewe.

The Golden Wookiee is said to emerge only when the conditions are exactly right…when the stars align, the parade assembles, and the spirit of Chewbacchus reaches critical mass. In this most auspicious year, we celebrate not only the spectacle, but those who have carried the Krewe forward through dedication, creativity, and steadfast HYS energy. All are called to bear witness to this shining era when the Krewe doesn’t just parade…it ascends.

The Golden Wookiee awards are also the highest honors bestowed each year upon the most dedicated ChewbacchanALIENS. These awards recognize individuals who have served the Mother Krewe in an exceptional capacity, going above and beyond to keep our intergalactic community thriving. While this award is only bestowed once upon krewe members, this year we honor a Golden Wookiee recipient whose service is so constant, so essential, that it has become legend within the Krewe. This year’s royalty honors the service and dedication of redshirt and krewe member, Jerry Hambrice.
